A technique I taught myself over 30 years ago and still return to again and again. Here, I’m creating a pair of Blissful Earrings using a custom color pattern - each design beginning as a hand-sketched plan on beading graph paper before the first bead is ever stitched. Simple patterns have their place, but it’s the intricate ones that continue to take my breath away.
I returned to traditional silk knotting for its luxurious, fluid drape and timeless feel. Each knot is tied by hand, allowing the necklace to move beautifully with the body, while the square heishi shape of these Smoky Quartz gemstones adds rich texture - especially striking when layered with other shapes and materials.
